Community Impact

We’re focused on developing the potential of young women in Yakima.

At the Junior League of Yakima we live in the moment. To us, that means adjusting our focus according to our community’s most pressing needs. Our work is always evolving, and that keeps us on our toes, striving for progress, and preparing to take on whatever comes next. In 2016, Junior League of Yakima voted to center our community impact efforts around Girls Initiative: Empowering Girls, Inspiring Leaders.

We are currently focused on empowering women and girls in our community through targeted outreach such as the Girls Circle Book Club, the Young Women’s Leadership Summit, Empowers Fundraiser, and the community assistance grants.

Our goal is to help women of the Yakima Valley develop civic leadership skills through the work they do, then put those talents to work in the communities that need it. Our current focus of the Girls Initiative gives girls and young women the opportunities to learn and grow, while positively impacting the communities where they live and work now, and into the future.

We’re creating fulfilling leadership opportunities throughout the Yakima Valley.

The Junior League of Yakima offers so much more than local volunteer opportunities! Our League of leaders creates real change by advancing social activism-focused projects that directly benefit the communities of the Yakima Valley. By giving women the tools to lead, educating them about Yakima’s needs, and helping them put their unique brand of creativity and skill to work, JLY is making a big impact on Central Washington.
